Self Care Ideas for Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is all about love, and not just about lovey dovey couples, but it’s also about loving yourself. It can be different to spend Valentine’s Day on your own whether you're single or you just physically can’t be with your partner. I wasn’t with my boyfriend for a lot of Valentine’s Days since we were in a long distance relationship. But, it doesn’t mean you can’t still celebrate Valentine's Day! You may want to take the opportunity to really lean-in to being by yourself! Here are some great ideas!

Buy Yourself a Gift

This can be anything, even a nice box of chocolate for you to eat at night! It always feels good to do something extra nice for yourself. Valentine’s Day is a day about love, but that can also include showing some love to yourself!

Pamper Yourself

Pick out your favourite bath bomb, face-mask, run yourself a hot bubble bath and pour yourself a glass of wine and you’re set. A perfect night to pamper yourself and show yourself some extra love!

Do a Guided Meditation

To really decompress, you could download one of the many apps that offer free meditations and have a relaxing night that ends with a guided meditation. This can help give you an amazing sleep and feelings of overall happiness and wellbeing. 

Buy Yourself Some Flowers

This simple gesture can go a long way for some real self love. While you’re at the grocery store, pick up a nice bouquet of flowers that you love and put them in a vase in your home to look at.

Cook Your Favourite Meal 

Putting some love into your favourite home-cooked meal is a great way to spend Valentine’s Day. There’s something so empowering about making a meal you love from scratch!


This year, Valentine’s Day is on a Sunday! So, if you have the luxury to be home the whole day, sleep-in and have a nice slow morning! A slow-paced morning once in a while can feel amazing!

Schedule in a Massage 

If you’ve been working hard at work and feel a big need to destress, schedule an appointment with a massage therapist and get a massage! Taking care of your body is an amazing way to show yourself some TLC.

Have a Dance Party 

Go all Meredith and Christina and dance it out! Crank up the music and put yourself in a happy mood by jamming out to some of your favourite songs!
